Type Locality and Naming

Along the Tamchi River, Malguzar Mountains. Z.S.Rumyantseva, 1972 (166, p.291-292); 1973 (387, p. 79).

Synonym: Tamchisay Suite, Тамчисайская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Dark gray sandstones, interbedded with claystones (argillites), graphitic argillaceous slates containing thin layers of limestones, calcareous siltstone (aleurolites), and sandy detrital limestones. The terrigenous formations are associated with a boulder hill composed of fragments and large boulders of dark gray, gray, and light gray limestones with Silurian tabulates. Thickness 500 m.

Lower contact

Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the lower contact as Baras Beds Fm

Upper contact

According to I.M.Nigmadzhanov, the upper contact is unclear.

Regional extent

Extends as a broad, latitudinally trending belt along the northern slope of the Malguzar Mountains.

Fossils

In the limestone layers, foraminifera of the Middle Carboniferous type - Profusulinella sp., Eofusulina (?) sp.; in the lower part of the section, conodonts - Idiognathodus delicatulus Gun., I. podolskensis Gor., Streptognathodus parvusDunn., Gondolella sp., determining the age of the suite as late Moscovian Middle Carboniferous (165).
